Three stone altars found in Yemen, which carry the tribal name NHM and which date to Lehi's own century, stand in the very region where the Book of Mormon says a place “called Nahom” already stood.

The translation timeline

Whatever you decide about the book, its 270,000 words were spoken aloud in about 65 to 75 working days, and the surviving manuscript shows a man dictating — not copying, and almost never going back to revise.

Although critics spent a century laughing at “Alma” as a Latin woman's name stuck on a Nephite man, an ancient land deed found in 1961 carries the Hebrew signature of one “Alma son of Judah.”
